How to Sleep in a Car Safely

If you are planning to spend a night in your car – who will pay $100 for a night at a hotel! – you should be careful about choosing the best place to sleep. Obviously, you cannot park your car wherever you want to for sleeping. So, the first thing that you have to do is to find a safe place to park your car.

Where Not to Park Your Car

Before we talk about the places where you can safely park your car to sleep in a car overnight, let us have a look at the places where you shouldn’t park your car. The first place is the highway on the side of the road. Parking your car on the highway means that you’re looking for trouble. Not only will the incoming traffic be inconvenienced, but you will also be at the risk of being hit by a speeding vehicle.

Also, look for ‘no parking’ signs. Don’t park your vehicle in the area that explicitly says that parking is not allowed unless you want to get towed.

1. Essentials

When you are on a road trip, you should always keep the essentials with you. Don’t leave the house without packing a blanket, a torchlight, and some snacks with you.

2. Ventilation

So, if you sleep in your car with all your windows closed, you are likely to suffocate yourself. A few hours sleep won’t be life-threatening, but the loss of air in the car can leave you severely dehydrated. If you have a sunroof in your car, open it just a little bit for proper ventilation. You can also try rolling down the window just a little to let the fresh air come in.

3. Privacy

How would you feel if you find out that you are being watched while sleeping? Not good, obviously. So, when you are out on the road, how can you ensure that your privacy is not being invaded? Well, the easy thing to do is to use pack towel to block your windows from outside.

4. Be Comfortable

Do you miss your comfy bed when you’re away from home? We all do! Sleeping in a car can be a bit tedious for people who have never tried it out. So, for your comfort, keep air mattress with you that can provide you the same level of comfort as your bed at home.

The Final Word

If you are out on a road trip, don’t forget to keep all the eseentials with you to ensure that you can comfortably sleep in your car.
