American Teenage Dream – 1965 Chevrolet Camaro

Today we will speak about very popular car all over the world – Chevrolet Camaro. The mass production of this car started in 1965, after Ford’s Mustang. Chevrolet wants to produce a car, that will be faster, more comfortable and with appearance that will be more attractive. So, in August 1964 the company started to develop a new car. The first body of the car was made in 1965, and the first car was assembled on December 16.

Till the last moment the new car of Chevrolet doesn’t have its own name. Somebody called it “Panther”, and other “Wildcat”. The marketers offered to call the car like animals, planets and minerals but this idea was rejected. In the long run, Bob Lund say that the first latter in the future name of the car should be “C”, like in other models of the company Chevrolet – Corvette, Chevy, Corvair. After this proposition he and Ed Rollet find the English-French dictionary and started to review the words on the latter “C”. Finally, they find the French word – camarade, which means friend, and transformed it into Camaro.

On September 12, 1966 this automobile was firstly presented to the journalists by Pit Estes. Firstly, he talked a lot about new models of 1967, and after long waits everybody finally saw the new car – Chevrolet Camaro SS 350 Convertible.

There is six generation of Chevrolet Camaro. We will talk only about the first; it is 1967-1969 years. So it was a car with long hood and short trunk. Two models were released – Chevrolet Camaro Sport Coupe and Chevrolet Camaro SS 350 Convertible. Both models have four seats – two separated front seats and one solid back seat. The standard-equipped models of the car were very poor with different interesting details.

The first generation of Chevrolet Camaro include the model Super Sport or SS. It was very powerful car that combines bright appearance and reinforced chassis. 1965 Camaro SS has eight-cylinder V-shaped engine or 5,7-liter engine with 295 horsepower. There are already 6,5-liter engine with 325 or 375 horsepower. Chevrolet Camaro SS has simulated air vents on the top of the hood. There are a lot of SS emblems – on the radiator grille, steering wheel and gasoline tank.

The Chevrolet Camaro 1965 is very rare car, you need to work hard to find it. The cost of all Chevrolet Camaro is very different. You can find a car cost $15,000 or $200,000, everything depends on state of the machine, and the number of driven miles. The approximate cost of the car is from $30, 000 and higher.
